The Tree of Life

He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God. Revelation 2:7

I remember learning in history about Ponce de Leon looking for the Fountain of Youth in Florida. I've grown up with advertisements about elixirs and potions and special creams and formulas to make us look years younger, but what does that say about our society?

Does that say that we are so caught up in youthfulness that we disregard the elderly, because we are afraid it may rub off and we might become decrepit some day? Do we pass this same message on to our children and grandchildren? Have our parents had this same media bombardment all of their lives and feel useless when they are elderly?

Rather than worrying about my human body now, I would much rather develop my relationship with Christ so that I might partake of the tree of life and live with Him in Paradise. That's what I want for my dad, and children, and my grandchildren.

Since death is the eventual outcome, it gives me lots of time to think, as my dad's caregiver, about what is really important! He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God. Revelation 2:7

Since these are examples of how I've applied these Bible verses to my experience, they may not reflect the whole meaning of the verse.
