The Day of the Parade

Hearken unto thy father that begat thee, and despise not thy mother when she is old. Proverbs 23:22

On July 27, the Korean War Armistice was signed 64 years ago and the Veteran's Home where Dad resides was having a parade for the Korean War Veterans. I was impressed. They had a flat bed truck with sides, so those with wheelchairs could go up the ram and those who were ambulatory could sit in chairs. They were escorted by two police cars, a firetruck, and a someone following in an antique car.

The procession drove for about two blocks in all directions accompanied by vehicles with flashing lights. They got to wave to the on-lookers and hear the cheers of the crowds. This Veteran's Home did something that boosted the self-esteem of the veterans, as well as, the audience.

My dad glowed for hours following the parade. That was the highlight of his week and it was wonderful to be able to be there and see what joy it gave my dad. It's easy to forget how much the elderly need recognition the same as everyone else does. My hat is off to the Veteran's Home and all who worked to make it a very special day for them!!!!

Since these are examples of how I've applied these Bible verses to my experience, they may not reflect the whole meaning of the verse.
